We need all sorts of volunteers for the Great Galetta Gathering….. prior to the event, on the day of the event, and in the days following the event. Any time you could give would be much appreciated. 

Listed below are tasks that will need volunteers.  If you can help with a certain task please email Emily emily_16@live.ca  and let her know what time you are available.  She will create a timetable of shifts from your availability and the gaps not filled.

Volunteers needed Thursday/Friday before the event to:

• Bring tables and chairs out of the hall
• Place tables and chairs in refreshment area and music area
• Bring benches and chairs out of the storage container
• Put up small tents

Volunteers needed on the day of the event to:

• Put out garbage bins and recyclers 
• Set up kids’ games on loan from the City
• Sell 50/50 tickets
• Sell raffle tickets and monitor prize location
• Sell popcorn, snacks, water and pop
• Monitor garbage bins and recycling
• Monitor bowling green exits for alcohol
• Help with immediately necessary tear down that evening

Volunteers needed after the event to:

• Return tables and chairs to hall
• Return chairs and some benches to storage container
• Take down large and small tents

We are making good progress toward having the Hall supported with an Emergency Generator. Early in 2024 we need to make progress in the area of engaging the Galetta Community in preparing for emergencies. That work will include an outreach to the community

We are looking for a volunteer to join our GalettaPrepares team member with responsibilities that would include:

• Assisting in developing a plan to improve Galetta residents’ awareness of the need to prepare for emergencies.
• Surveying residents to determine the needs of the community for support during an emergency.
• Determining the possible extent of ‘neighbours helping neighbours’ that could take place during an emergency
• Recommending a Communications Network similar to Neighbourhood Watch or a ‘Telephone Tree’ to facilitate communications during an emergency.

....and we have a volunteer standing by to assist!

The next steps in the GalettaPrepares work will be to develop the database of residences in the Galetta Area with the aim of identifying those that are more vulnerable to emergencies. We have acquired the necessary basic dBases and now need to bring them together and keep them updated.

We are looking for someone with EXCEL experience who:

• is comfortable with EXCEL and manipulating data inside tables.

• can updating the data by comparing with external tables that have been updated

• can using the mapping and geography components of EXCEL

FOOD  FOR  THOUGHT 

Once upon a time there were four individuals named EVERYBODY, SOMEBODY, ANYBODY and NOBODY.

There was an important job to be done and 

EVERYBODY was asked to do it.  

But EVERYBODY was sure SOMEBODY would do it.  

ANYBODY could have done it, but NOBODY did.  

SOMEBODY got angry about it because it was EVERYBODY'S job.  

EVERYBODY thought ANYBODY could do it, and NOBODY realized that EVERYBODY would not do it.  

It ended up that EVERYBODY blamed SOMEBODY and NOBODY did the job that ANYBODY could have done in the first place.
